Multi-Year Breakout in Gold at $1400 Could Boost Junior Miners

“We see a breakout at $1,400 in gold, which could mean new multiyear highs,” said Jeb Handwerger, editor of GoldStockTrades.com, which offers a newsletter focusing on mining exploration companies. Gold futures haven’t topped $1,400 since 2013. A decline in the value of the U.S. dollar has recently helped boost dollar-denominated prices of gold, but Handwerger pointed out that “many investors have been diverted away from mining into much more speculative areas like blockchain and cannabis.” “Even investment conferences and newsletter writers who were once gold bugs are now cryptocurrency gurus,” and this is very similar to 1999 when gold bulls became dot-com gurus,” he said. “Eventually, we will have another gold rush possibly even bigger than the late 70s but possibly more like the 30s.”

Is Trump Sparking a Revival in US Lithium Sector?

Many investors are ignoring the recent move in the nation's capital by President Trump to reduce our reliance on imported lithium which more than half comes from South America. A US domestic lithium supply is becoming a top interest for lawmakers and energy companies. I believe we should continue to witness increasing agreements between end user battery makes and junior lithium companies especially in the USA. Notice the chart below the US is nowhere to be found for lithium production despite having significant resources. That could change under Trump.

Are You Ready for The 2nd Leg Higher in the TSX Venture in 2018?

Looking at the TSX Venture Chart above it appears the Venture peaked in 2011 and bottomed in 2016. Since the summer of 2016 the Venture has consolidated that first move for over 18 months. It appears that we could be starting the next leg higher with this break of 850. We are also moving into a very favorable time period where rallies occur between January and March. If you want to take advantage of a new year tax loss bounce you should buy a handful of really quality juniors which are still cheap.

Is Chile’s Mining Industry About To Boom After Election?

For many months now I have related to my subscribers that the pro capitalist movement in Chile was growing stronger and that a rally could begin in the Chilean junior miners as the country turns more pro-busines. I highlighted for close to a year now that maybe Argentina was getting a bit overpriced and we should look at Chile for the critical lithium supplies. Over the weekend the runoff election was announced and my forecast of Chile turning pro business was spot on. Conservative candidate Pinera won by a huge margin pledging to rebuild the economy and open up the country to foreign investment. He won more votes than any other president indicating the people of Chile want the economy to rebound.

Year End is the Most Wonderful Time of the Year to Buy Junior Miners

Long term experienced junior mining investors knows that the Holiday Tax Loss Selling Season is usually the best time to pick up bargains. Even in down bear market years January and February are usually favorable, however, we may be on the verge of some of the best years in mining ever! Notice the significant rallies off these lows the past 3 years.

Silver Stocks May Be Cheapest Opportunity In Decade

Gold miners have kept in line with gold bullion and stocks so far this year. Copper, zinc and palladium have outperformed both stocks and gold. However, silver and silver stocks have lagged behind but I believe they could not only play catch up but they could far surpass the gains of these other metals as their is a record short that may soon have to cover if the US dollar finally breaks down. Silver may be the cheapest and best opportunity in the market right now from a value perspective. If you notice the silver to gold ratio has not reached this high since 2008 and 2002.

Three #InterestRateHikes Then “Stumble” into #Gold #Silver #JuniorMiningStocks

Now that the Fed has met and increased interest rates for the third time, I expect more capital to rotate from overvalued stocks to the junior miners similar to what we saw after the dot com crash. This bubble in stocks could be on the verge of a precipitous fall which could abruptly wipe out the capital chasing stocks higher into nosebleed levels. Bitcoin and paper currencies are losing favor while gold and silver may come back later this year and certainly in 2018 when many of the major producers are set for a supply shortfall. As stocks correct and treasury yields rise with rising inflation more investors will flock to our illiquid junior mining sector seeking tangible assets for protection and a hedge against hyperinflation.

Zinc Hits 5 Year Highs: Is This Canada’s Next Zinc Producer?

An exciting metal breaking into 5 year highs is zinc at $1.30 per pound. Its still way below its pre credit crisis highs at $2 but it looks like it could be headed there later this year. Smart investors are scrambling around for the top zinc assets which can get into production in mining friendly stable jurisdictions. At the end of December I saw some of the smartest mining investors the Lundin and McEwen Family putting seven figures into this new zinc company whose Chairman built Blue Pearl, Thompson Creek, Wheaton River... in the last commodity cycle. He has over 35 years of experience. These stocks he built went from pennies to ten+ dollars per share with a billion market cap. I believe this could be one of the top zinc assets in North America. This asset has 4+ billion pounds of zinc at a time when producers were shutting down.

Trump Wants Investors To Buy American Mining and Manufacturing

I just read Trump's inaugural speech and it can be summed up in the following sentence, "Buy American and hire American". This policy could have a great impact on some of our US natural resource holdings including our investments in US precious metals, rare earths, graphite, lithium, uranium...which have been forgotten about for nearly twenty years as large mining companies sought mines in foreign jurisdictions which had less regulatory burdens then the US. For years I expected a renaissance in this abandoned mineral sector as a country can last only so long before people realize that their jobs have been sent overseas.

Prepare Your Stock Portfolio For President Trump with Strategic Metals and Minerals

The markets are pricing in inflation following the Trump US Presidential Election Win. US stocks are soaring to record highs and the Dow is on verge of breaking 20k a major psychological level. Investors should be prepared for volatility as President Trump will counteract a lot of Obama's moves over the past eight years and this could accelerate moves in many markets. Notice already US bonds are breaking down as capital is flowing to riskier assets most notably stocks and recently copper and energy. This is signaling to me inflation, rising interest rates and major policy changes which is already having dramatic effects on the average portfolio. Continue following the tensions in the South China Seas with the recent stealing of the Chinese of a US military drone. Could China have taken that drone to see what rare earths the US in using to power and guide the advanced drones? All the metals which China has control of should be watched and you should get exposure. Focus on rare earths, graphite and other strategic battery technology metals such as scandium, graphite and cobalt. Trump has put in Peter Navarro as a trade advisor with China and the Chinese are already threatening a trade showdown. Hopefully Trump will move fast to help secure our own supply chain of critical metals as that is how the Chinese can squeeze the West.
