Power Up Your Investment Portfolio with Solar Energy

For years I have been researching clean energy investments in lithium ion batteries, nuclear, rare earths and renewables. However, I haven't made a solar investment in years until a few months ago. Over the years, I have been a skeptic on solar as I felt the cell technology was not yet advanced to be competitive economically. This past year may have been a turning point in solar investments and the coming 3-5 years could see exceptional growth especially with the advancement in the Lithium-Ion Battery and Power Storage. Solar should continue growing while natural gas and coal go extinct like the dinosaurs. California, Arizona and Nevada are definitely leaders increasing solar capacity, hopefully my home state of Sunny Florida will increase their usage.

When you see a small clean tech venture company get a huge non-dilutive, non repayable grant from a first class organization its time to watch for huge gains. Couple that with a classic cup and handle chart and this may be one of the top winners in 2016 on the TSX Venture. Li-Ion Battery Sector Could Power Up a Portfolio

Usually after PDAC the large mining convention in Toronto ends there tends to be a hang over from all the partying and promoting. Stocks have tended to pullback and volume dwindled. However, I am keeping a close eye on the lithium sector which continues to be quite exciting and generating a lot of investment interest as the lithium price continues to soar. "For 10 or 12 years, (Argentina) was a do-not-invest zone. The tone of doing business has just swung 180 degrees," said Tom Hodgson, the chief executive of Western Lithium, which is developing a project in the country due to begin production next year. Argentina now has a "major opportunity" to build a lithium export business, Hodgson told Reuters earlier this month at a mining conference in Toronto. Western Lithium is working with Korean steelmaker POSCO, whose chairman was in Argentina last month to meet with Macri and begin the construction of a new lithium plant, due to begin commercial production within a year..."

Increase in Terrorism and Violent Crime Boosts Demand for Video Surveillance Provider

The threat of terrorism and the increase in violent crimes are driving the growth of the global security market especially surveillance technology. The video surveillance equipment market reached close to $30 billion in 2015 doubling in the past five years. One company Gatekeeper Systems (GSI.V or GKPRF) reached record revenue in the fourth quarter of 2015 of close to $2.5 million CAD. I believe this trend can continue into 2016 as they are making some great strides in the video surveillance markets especially with school buses, the US Air Force and Body Cameras.

Excelsior Mining (MIN.V or EXMGF) Updates PFS and Production Timeline, Breaks Out of Six Month Downtrend on Huge Volume

Watch Excelsior Mining (MIN.V or EXMGF) which just released an updated Prefeasibility Study that demonstrated a post-tax NPV of $829 million USD and reduced Initial Capital Costs 84% on the Gunnison Copper Project in Southeastern Arizona. Some of the most exciting numbers that stood out to me was the all in cost of $1.24/lb. This means that even if copper stays at this depressed $2 per pound level Excelsior could be profitable. The mine life is 27 years so copper should average higher over the next 5-10 years especially as the higher cost players shut down their mines.
